FCD Bulletin -- December 2024
Conservation Spotlight: Debbie Mitchell
This month we'd like to recognize the conservation career of Debbie Mitchell. Debbie served as the District Manager for the Fremont Conservation District for over 11 years, from 2013 to 2024. During her time at the District, she helped oversee an expansion to our programs and services, especially our youth education and outreach. Our gardens program--which involves eight schools in Fremont County and two public libraries--was established entirely through Debbie's efforts. In the end, the best that can be said of any district manager can be said about Debbie: that she left the district better than she found it. FCD would like to congratulate Debbie on her retirement and say another big thank you for her years of service!
Poster Contest
Fremont Conservation District held our annual 5th & 6th grade poster contest in November. This year we had over 110 participants across four schools in Fremont County. This year's poster theme was "May the Forest Be with You Always," and we received so many worthy submissions that judging was difficult! Congratulations to Sophia from Fremont Elementary for winning first over all in the County. Runner up went to Holly from Mountain View. Thanks to all who participated, and another congratulations to the winners!
